Civil War Union Fighting Joe Canteen Replica
Civil War Union Fighting Joe Canteen Replica
Joseph Hooker held many commanders for the Union Army and his nerve and determination earned him the nickname Fighting Joe. As a driving force in the Civil War on the side of the Union this superior piece of replicated history was named after General Hooker. It is made of stainless steel with a spout. The spout has a rolled lip with a soldered seam. Attached by a steel link chain is a cork stopper to keep all the contents from leaking out. The outer material that covers this canteen is a navy blue woolen, or satinette, cloth that has been hand sewn. This cloth when wet will keep the contents cool just like its original counter-part. A cotton drilling strap is fed through three metal belt loops around the canteen in a way to keep it upright while carrying it. Canteens were standard issue and a very important piece of equipment for any solider.
