Drinking horns have been used throughout history in all types of ceremonies from weddings to burials. Like the English, the Norse folk made extensive use of drinking horns. Most would have been from domestic cattle and would have had a capacity of a pint or so. One of the symbols of the god Odin is three interlocked drinking horns. This reflects the god’s quest for magical mead brewed from the blood of the wise Kvasir and the source of poetic inspiration. Today they are still used in ceremonies such as weddings. With such a long history, why wouldn’t anyone want one for their very own? Our Mead of Poetry Drinking Horn has been hand carved and polished. The design is seen throughout every inch of this piece without ending. Included is a leather frog to hang on your person at parties or events. This piece makes a great gift for that unique person in your life. Following 5 steps are being generally followed during the manufacturing process of drinking horns: a) Selecting an appropriate horn. b) Sanding the horn from the outside. c) Washing with hot water. d) Coating with glass coat lacquer from the inside to make it 100% safe for usage. e) Polishing. All horns are boiling water proof and are polished to give a smooth finish. * Please not there may be a slight odor as this is a natural item.
